Love it!! 5 by .. Richard Fox ()
Bought two of these for my 78 year old mom who loves BBC Radio3. This product makes me smile because it's so well done. The setup was a breeze. The sound quality is great. It's an incredible value for the money. My mom is thrilled with it! Thanks RCA!

BTW, am using Powerline Turbo 85Mbps Homeplug Ethernet Adapterrather than Wi-Fi to connect them. They worked without any setup. Just plugged them in and go. It's wonderful when high-tech stuff works without hassle.

Just what I was looking for! 5 by .. KAB (OH, USA)
I like this because this relpaces my old clock radio and cost 1/3 less than other devices that I was considering buying. I was looking for Internet radio because I could only pick up a few stations with my old clock radio. I like the Slacker Radio although I think it repeats alot of the music. I have yet to full explore the internet radio and will as time goes on. The AM & FM tuners (digital) seem to be pretty good also.

I received the RIR200, followed the QuickStart guide set up instructions and it worked flawlessly.

Totally Useless and a Safety Hazard! 1 by .. Steve C (Arizona)
It's a safety hazard! Every time I had to unplug the power cord to reset it and my finger touched the shell on the power plug it would shock me so I measured and found 105.7 volts between the outside of the power plug and ground! If you have the wall wart power supply made by Kingwall, model AS140-090-DB, immediately pack the whole thing up and send it back for a refund!

It looks nice and seems to be well made but doesn't work because it can't connect to any networks that I tried. I have 2 wi-fi networks, a D-Link wireless access point and a FON router (and a wired connection) but it wouldn't work on them since it has no way to enter network settings or to put in the user name and password. It can see the wi-fi but can't connect. I tried it on two friends wi-fi networks also but it wouldn't work on them either. I finally got it to connect wirelessly by installing a DHCP server program on my PC but then it tried a long time and finally said: "Server Error, Unable to Retrieve Account Settings. Enter Zip Code". I don't know what the Zip code has to do with wi-fi but I put that in, it showed a graphic of a transmitter tower for a few minutes then turned itself off! I guess it doesn't work in my Zip code!

If I turn it back on and try to connect to Slacker it says: Slacker Service Not Responding, Try Again Later then turns itself off!

It has AM and FM receivers too but only a piece of wire for the antenna so the reception indoors is no better than the average clock radio. Although it looks like a clock radio and has an alarm don't depend on it waking you up on time. Mine has frozen twice since yesterday.

Update: After tinkering with this radio for a few more hours I tried the wired Ethernet connection again and for some reason it came up with a dialog asking me to enter the IP address, gateway and DNS server address. After I put all that in it started working! I don't know why that came up after all this time but it would be nice if it presented that option when I first tried to get it working.

It still doesn't work with wi-fi though and the wireless access point just forwards the same network wirelessly so the same settings should also work there too but they don't and it won't connect.

They must have known the wi-fi wouldn't work so they came out with a new model 205 that includes it's own wireless adapter. The manual has a lot of information on setting up the wireless adapter but nothing about how to setup the wireless option in the radio itself.

Works very well, slight WEP problem 5 by .. Wayne F. Brells (Schenectady, NY USA)
I've had this radio for about a week and am very happy with it. In particular, I enjoy the Slacker service (after discovering that one must set up "Custom" stations if they are to be accessed via the radio). Playing music from a USB "stick" also works well as does the Internet Radio option. It is nice to have 6 presets available because accessing additional "favorite" stations takes a number of button pushes!

On the negative side, the speakers are clear but seem to have very little bass. Attaching a small pair of Labtec speakers improved the sound quality significantly.

The specifications for this radio do not claim that it can access music stored on a local network and, indeed, it does not seem able to do so.

I'm currently using the radio via an ethernet cable which works very well. I am NOT able to use it via WiFi because my network uses WEP security with Key #2 rather than the default Key #1. (NOTE: WEP security allows 4 encryption keys to be specified even though only one key is used at a given time.) I sent a "help" request via the RCA radio site but have not received a reply. (I suspect this radio cannot access a WEP protected network that use anything other than WEP Key #1.)

All-in-all I'm very happy with this radio and would recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible, inexpensive Internet radio.

A fine radio 5 by .. Fredm (Rochester, NY USA)
I've been using this for about 3 weeks. Except for needing an occasional reboot it works fine. I cannot vouch for the FM/AM performance since I listen to local stations via their internet feed. I had a Chumby but sent it back because it did not function well as a clock radio. This does: its only deficiency is that it has but one alarm. It's speakers produce a good, clear sound and the selection of stations is very large. I would buy it again.
