Tipped on its edge, the speaker can be directed for personal listening. View larger. Unique, Round Design with 360-Degree Sound
With just a quick look at the Orbit, you know you're in for something special. Its round form uses a cone design integrated with a custom Altec Lansing speaker to project full, distortion-free sound in every direction. All your friends will hear the music and wonder where the great sound is coming from. If you would like a more personal listening experience, just put the Orbit on its edge for a more focused and directed sound.

At just 3.5 inches in diameter and 1.6 inches tall, the Orbit will go wherever you go. Throw it in your pocket or purse and pull it out wherever you are: on a park bench, on the street corner, waiting for the bus. To turn it on, simply twist the entire speaker; this prevents it from accidentally turning on in your bag or pocket. And don't worry about damaging the Orbit; it's built to handle even the most reckless travelers.

A smartly designed integrated cable management lets you wrap the cable around the speaker and keeps the stereo mini-plug out of the way when not in use.

Outstanding Battery Life
You don't have to worry about battery life with the Orbit; with three AAA batteries, the Orbit will play for up to 24 continuous hours, more than enough to keep the party going all night long.

The Altec Lansing Orbit is backed by a one-year warranty.

Customer reviews

I must have received a dud 2 by .. S. Michaud (Maine)
I see the reviews for this are great. The reason I bought this was because of the reviews. Mine is horrible! The off mechanism is not a switch. The tob grill turns to turn it off. Well, mine is almost impossible to turn off. It is very cheap feeling. I would spend $10 more and get a better one. I will just give this to my friend and get another one. On a good note the sound is quite good for podcasts. Music is marginal.

Lansing Orbital speaker 1 by .. Frank A. Tomasulo (Deerfield Beach, Florida United States)
Poor quality and could not shut the machine off. The on and off switch was stuck . I returned the item to manufacturer over two weeks ago and I haven not heard from them ever since.

Between the cost of purchase and mailing back to manufacturer, this turned out to be a bad decision to purchase on my part.

Great idea, decent sound, cheap contruction 4 by .. DR Travel (California)

Very functional for the traveler or camper that wants to use their ipod without headphones or wants to share the music/podcast. Sound is good for a speaker of this size. Construction is a little cheap and it soon became an effort to turn off/on (which requires twisting the entire unit) but still a good buy.

Sounds Great, BUT... 4 by .. J. Cummings (New York)
The im207 sounds amazing for its size, however like other reviewers stated it is impossible to turn on & off. You're supposed to turn the entire speaker. After much struggling I managed to get it to the on position & that's it - it's staying there. I think I'll take the advice of another reviewer who reverses a battery to turn it off. There is a newer model im237 with an actual on/off switch and also a protective case - at more than double the price. I gave the im207 4 stars because even with the on/off issue you can't beat the sound for the price.

Met my expectations. 4 by .. D. Gayes (Fishers, IN)
Based on other reviews I read, this speaker met my expectations. It's great for travel with decent sound quality, especially for the price.
